Did you know the UK is set to switch off ISDN phone lines by 2025?
ISDN and PSTN circuits will be switched off and customers will move over to VoIP telephone systems.
The ISDN switch-off refers to the process of discontinuing the use and support of ISDN technology by telecommunications companies in favour of more modern and advanced technologies powered by broadband internet.
Many UK businesses are still using the ISDN system and will require upgrade to a newer system before the end date.
The current set date of the ISDN switch off is December 2025. We do not expect any delays to this date at this point but will update if any are announced.
The largest risk facing businesses around the subject of the ISDN switch off is complete loss of phone communication. If a businesses are not prepared before the switch off date they might find that they’re at a back of a long queue of instillations whilst also having no telephone system. This could cost businesses customers and revenue.
Some CCTV and Alarm systems use the ISDN / PSTN network and might be affected by the ISDN switch off. Get in contact with your providers to ensure your business is still protected.
PSTN or ISDN circuits enable you to make external business calls, but they will be phased out in 2025. SIP Trunks are the modern way of transferring your external calls over the Internet.
Do you need to invest in SIP Trunks? No, Not with Enreach Contact. Our business telephony solution comes with embedded SIP trunks, which means you have one bill, and all your external & internal calls will be managed by us. A business telephone system is a phone system which improves your company’s ability to communicate at scale.
Traditional phone systems are built using analogue technology, this system is expensive and lacks features which modern businesses require to be successful.
Modern features such as:
Modern day VoIP business phone systems use the Internet instead of a landline to transfer voice data at a much faster speed and at a lower cost.
The system is made up of a phone, computer, internet connection and a PBX box either hosted in the office or on the cloud. Cloud hosted PBX boxes help businesses become more dynamic with their work allowing for employees to work from home whilst retaining an office phone number and all the system features.
No, if you transfer your number to a new VoIP system you can almost always transfer your current number.
