2018 in review

As Christmas is fast approaching and the year is coming to a close here at Network Telecom, we are reflecting on what has been another record-breaking year.

2018 was a year of many significant events for us. Perhaps the most notable of which was being named in the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 as a result of our record profit growth. Our MD and founder, as well as two of our longest standing employees. collected the award in London to the excitement of our staff members back at HQ.

We were also excited to send staff from across the company to the Comms National Awards, Comms Dealer Sales and Marketing Awards and the Made in The Midlands Awards where we were shortlisted – all of which were great events!

In addition, we made a number of significant hires throughout the year and welcomed many new faces to the team in a variety of departments. Many of them are now housed in our new office extension!

We enjoyed lots of fun social events this year including our Summer BBQ and Autumn Ball both of which raised funds for our local charity, Severn Hospice. Not to mention our more recent, and very merry, Christmas lunches!

It wouldn’t be a year in review for us if we didn’t mention the great work of our R&D Department and the launch of our new device, NT Multimedia, which was the first of its kind and is revolutionising the ways that businesses talk – something that we are extremely proud of.

2018 was a big year, not only for Network Telecom, but for the telecoms industry as a whole. The industry saw new connectivity partnerships, new network platforms and new government connectivity commitments. One of the biggest moments of 2018 was when the government announced their plan to allocate over £95 million to improve the UK’s digital connectivity. In addition, they pledged to provide full fibre broadband coverage to the UK in the next 15 years.

Significant advancements in the rollout of 5G were made as well, which allowed telecoms companies like ourselves to start planning for the future of faster internet. A 2018 review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning GDPR which effected the majority of UK businesses, both in and out of the telecoms industry, and how they collect and use personal data and advise their customers.

As we look ahead to 2019 we are predicting many exciting things for Network Telecom including more exciting NT Multimedia news, our move into IT services and our involvement in a number of local projects including being a STEM mentor.
